Family Literacy Initiative

On August 21, 2006 the First Lady launched a new intiative aimed at providing resources to families across the state.  Thanks to a generous grant from the Verizon Foundation, and in partnership with Wisconsin Literacy, the First Lady is visiting Literacy Centers and Family Resource Centers to promote the importance of families reading and learning together. 

The First Lady is delivering Badger Book Bins to every Literacy Center and Family Resource Center in the state.  The Badger Book Bins consist of books for children and new adult readers.  The Bins also contain resources for each center; such as brochures, books, and DVDs which emphasize the importance and provide guidance on reading to children.
